Fraunhofer Research Institution for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies IWKS
Technologies for a world without waste
The Fraunhofer Research Institution for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies IWKS develops circular materials and materials science technologies for an ultimate sustainable, waste-free circular economy. In close cooperation with universities, institutes and industry partners, it does research on more sustainable alternatives for critical raw materials and elaborates solutions for an intelligent regeneration of innovative materials and their energy-efficient recovery.
In the field of additive manufacturing, the focus at Fraunhofer IWKS is on the production and characterization of high-quality powders from functional materials (e.g. magnets, thermoelectrics) using secondary raw materials wherever possible, as well as their application.
